Barron Lake Tri Here I Come!

I decide after awhile to become part of the Racing For Steve-O team, after spending a large portion of my time training for Ironman Muncie 70.3 with Sarah Cira, Steve-O's daughter, and seeing the heart she has to carry out her dad's dreams!  Everyone asks me why I race, and I race because I enjoy it, and it gives me something to look forward to in the future, whether that's a week, month, year, or a few years from today's date.  This is such a great organization that really wants to pay it forward to our community and get kids active no matter what they want, need, plan or even not plan to do in their lives.  Racing For Steve-O will help get them to their goals and get them active, and to see active kids this day boast bright rewards for our area's future!

Steve Smith is known by his training buddies as “Steve-O”.  He is a 40 year Michiana resident, swim coach, teacher and World Champion Triathlete.  He is one of the most decorated amateur triathletes of all time with over 250 triathlons completed.

April 24th, 2012 he was diagnosed with a deadly brain tumor called Glioblastoma. In true “Steve-O” style, he has been battling this cancer with determination, strength and courage.

Steve-O's vision and our mission for this foundation is to help Michiana children have the opportunity to be involved in sports and athletics regardless of physical, mental and financial barriers.  Steve taught high school health and PE for 40 years while also coaching high school swimming. This is where he became passionate and inspired by his many amazing students and athletes with special needs over the years.  When asked what he'd like to do with funds raised by the foundation, he didn't hesitate to say he wanted to help his "kids"!

Live life to the fullest and enjoy what you do! Don't take the little things for granted for the little things are what keep you going!
